9 Things that God Wants in our Lives
Col. 2

He wants us to be...

1 - Rescued from an eternal anguish

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Desire was there

Plan was made

Gift was given

We must reach for the gift

2 - Reprieved through Repentance Lu. 13:1-5

1 There were present at that season some that told him of the Galilaeans, whose blood Pilate had mingled with their sacrifices.
2 And Jesus answering said unto them, Suppose ye that these Galilaeans were sinners above all the Galilaeans, because they suffered such things?
3 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.
4 Or those eighteen, upon whom the tower in Siloam fell, and slew them, think ye that they were sinners above all men that dwelt in Jerusalem?
5 I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Our opportunity is at hand

We make the choice

We pay the cost except we repent through Jesus Christ

3 - Rooted firm as a strong servant Col. 2:6, 7

6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

Must first receive Him

He wasn’t us to be vibrant in Him

Strong as a well established garden or tree

Continuing in Him with fruit (is the inference)

4 - Resistant to Sin's harmful influence James 4:7

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.

How do we fight the devil?

Give ourselves to the Lord entirely – submit

Stand against Satan and resist sinful actions and attitudes

Do all you can to be close to God

Stay out of sin – cleanse hands

Let the Lord help make you right – purify

5 - Radiant in the Love of Jesus - Luke 6

27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
29 And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
30 Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
31 And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
32 For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
33 And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
34 And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.

Christ-like

Christ-like actions – love your enemies, do good…

Don’t get even (all the time) – 29

Be liberal with your blessings – 30

Obey the golden rule – 31

6 - Revived in His service - Rom. 12:1-2

1 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

Glad to serve – 1

Serve well – 1

Serve as He wants you (transformed)

Show then all - 2

7 - Refreshed through His Spirit Rom. 15:32

32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

He can help us when we are down

He can do more than anything we come up with

Serving Him is joyful

Serving Him is refreshing

Serving man can be tiring and difficult

8 - Resurrected with the Righteous Luke 14:14

14 And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee: for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.

There is a bright day coming

The ticket is bought

We can have the ticket

Our reward awaits

9 - Resting in a joyful Resting Place Matt. 11:28-30

28 Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

I believe He wants all of us to labor for Him

Some labor more than others

Some are burdened

He will give us rest

True rest comes from Him

It will be worth it all
