Series: Things Jesus Wants Us To Know
Part 6 -
Luke 24
INTRO: Five weeks ago I started a series entitled "Things Jesus Wants Us To Know." Part 1 was, "He Is The One Sent By God For You." In that we saw that Jesus was and is identified as the only Son of God in whom we can place our trust and confidence in for salvation. Part 2 was, "Satan Can Be Defeated (Through Jesus)." Jesus wants us to know this as He set the example and gives us encouragement to fight and resist Satan. Then, for Part 3 I looked at Luke 5 where I used, Come And Follow Me (All The Way)." For Part 4 I looked into Luke 6 and our need to take time out for God while we can. Last week, I continued in Luke 6 and saw that Jesus wants us to think about how we plan and live our lives.
Today I am going to jump ahead in the book of Luke and look at a time just after the resurrection. It is there that we see how important Jesus considered His disciples and followers. He sees us as important today also. Let's read from Luke 24.
First, Jesus wants us to know…
There is no need to look into the tomb - 1-3
He is not there
That was the plan
Death was not the victor
The Romans did not take His life - He gave it for you and I
Then we can see, He wants us to know…
He is still alive - 4-6
His body was not moved by His disciples, the High Priest, soldiers or anyone else
His body was not hidden elsewhere
He is not dead - on that Sunday or today or tomorrow or forever
He also wants us to know…
He accomplished His mission - 6-8
He was obedient even unto death (yes He died)
He gave His life
He made the supreme sacrifice
He did it for us - you and I and the whole of humanity
He is also aware that…
Many will not believe - 10-12
That is not His plan - for us to disbelieve
Some do believe, but they wait too long - do they really believe?
Some believe and they act upon that belief that He was the Son of God who died for their sins
Some disbelieve
Believe only in what they can see (maybe)
Believe in what they can control (believe in self)
They have no faith, no trust, no life hereafter
They have no hope
They have no instruction - 44
They have no understanding - 45
They have no blessing - 51
They have no joy of His resurrection - 52
And last Jesus wants us to know…
He will walk with us along the way - 13- 15
He is one who wants to commune with us - 28-30
He is one who offers a greater life - 36
He is one who brings us an opportunity to help others know Him - 45-49
Let me ask you…
Do you know this Jesus I talk of today?
Have you experienced the joy of His presence?
Have you allowed Him into your life to bring you peace?
Have you asked Him to forgive you?
He is the only way to eternal life.
He is the one you must trust.
He is the one who lives.
And, He wants you to know… He cares for you.
