Construction Of A Godly Child

Proverbs 22:1-6 1A good name is rather to be chosen than great riches, and loving favour rather than silver and gold.

2The rich and poor meet together: the LORD is the maker of them all.

3A prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and are punished.

4By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.

5Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

6Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

INTRO: What does it take for our children to become Godly children? What affects them? Good? Evil? What or who affects them the most? You (as parents)? School? Peers? Evil influences, like drugs, alcohol, gambling, gangs, pornography - can all these be blamed on society alone?

I want to look at three basic things involved in the construction of a godly child.

We have dealt with building character for Jesus. Just like a real building, there are some basics involved.

First, we must have the…

Right Base - A Firm Foundation

God Loved

God designed

God enriched

We then need the…

Right Beams - A Strong Supporting Structure

Parental involvement in areas pertaining to God

Early exposure with God's Word and His Heroes

Home life filled with consistent love, encouragement, and kindness

And we need the…

Right Boards and nails- Common Connection to Christ - decorative and functional

Continual closeness to Jesus Christ

Prayer, Bible reading, Worshipping in God's house, Fellowshipping with God's believers

Everyday eviction of evil and bad things from their lives

Protects them from harm

Done by example

Done with consistency

Done with love and understanding

Done with God's help
