One Who Can Build Us Up
Intro: This past week your children and grandchildren have learned about how "Jesus Can Build You Up." Today, I want to look at the theme scripture of our Vacation Bible School and see what it tells us about the power of the Lord to build us up.
First, let me read the theme scripture…
Acts 20:32 And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among all them which are sanctified.
We can see from this passage, that…
There is One who truly cares for you.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
1 Pet 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.
[hold your place]
More than a parent
More than a spouse
More than a friend
Truly He does care for all of us.
We also see from this passage of God's Word that…
There is One whose grace is sufficient.
2 Cor 12:9 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
1 Pet 5:10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
His forgiveness is clean (awesome feeling of cleanliness)
His forgiveness can be complete
Many worry that they are unable to live the life they know God would have them live. I have good news…
There is One who will build you up.
He will help you every step of the way!
Phil 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
2 Tim 4:17 Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
To do great things (for Him)
Eph 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
By the Holy Spirit
Col 1:11 Strengthened with all might, according to his glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness;
To be special
And last, as we look at this passage of God's Word we see…
There is One who has an inheritance to give.
[And it is a great inheritance indeed!

1 Pet 1:4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
That we might enjoy it in "heaven" (eternally) with Him
That we might gladly share it with our loved ones and friends
[Compare with story of Good Samaritan - this is how God wants to use us - to help build others up]
Let us ask ourselves some important questions…
What does God want to happen with my life? [save you and build you up]
Do I want to please God with my Life? [only you can answer]
Does God want to build up my life? [Yes]
Why does God want to build me up? [Love, pure love]
How does God want to build me up? [through His Spirit and others]
Do I have to ask Him to build me up?
Ask Him
Believe (in) Him
Confess Him (that He is the Christ)
