Super Strategies For Snaring God’s Creation On His Slippery Slope
Ecclesiastes 1

Ecclesiastes 1 - The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taketh under the sun?

4One generation passeth away, and another generation cometh: but the earth abideth for ever. 5The sun also ariseth, and the sun goeth down, and hasteth to his place where he arose. 6The wind goeth toward the south, and turneth about unto the north; it whirleth about continually, and the wind returneth again according to his circuits. 7All the rivers run into the sea; yet the sea is not full; unto the place from whence the rivers come, thither they return again. 8All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.

9The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it hath been already of old time, which was before us. 11There is no remembrance of former things; neither shall there be any remembrance of things that are to come with those that shall come after.

12I the Preacher was king over Israel in Jerusalem. 13And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom concerning all things that are done under heaven: this sore travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. 14I have seen all the works that are done under the sun; and, behold, all is vanity and vexation of spirit. 15That which is crooked cannot be made straight: and that which is wanting cannot be numbered. 16I communed with mine own heart, saying, Lo, I am come to great estate, and have gotten more wisdom than all they that have been before me in Jerusalem: yea, my heart had great experience of wisdom and knowledge. 17And I gave my heart to know wisdom, and to know madness and folly: I perceived that this also is vexation of spirit. 18For in much wisdom is much grief: and he that increaseth knowledge increaseth sorrow.

INTRO: How does Satan do it? It seems like he has a vast majority on his side. Why do so many fall prey to his traps? Why do they not see the difference, the advantage of knowing the Lord? Is he that great of a deceiver? Or are "we" all that gullible or vain? How does he do it? Well he has had a lot of time to practice and he does know what buttons to push. Lets look at some things he uses…

He knows to use…
Shifting sensuous desiresnothing new – but he changes the packaging – Eve and the "apple"

He works on our baser side

John 3:16-21 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

He works on our fun side – desire to have a "good time"

Uses our covetness – I have always struggled with why it is wrong to covet – Satan uses this in our lives

Uses our pride – don’t want to be left behind or out

Pro. 6:16 These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: 17A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, 18An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, 19A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.

Uses our rebellious nature, etc. – shows up even when we are little

Slipping time - Slides by almost unnoticed, slows to a crawl, or is a blur it goes by so quick

Too much time when you are young - wait

Not enough time when you are starting a family - later

Out of time when you get older – too late

Seeking and amassing a fortuneNever quite enough

Represents it as…

A necessity (fortune not sustenance – Paul….)

The answer to all our dreams

True happiness

Strong discouraging emotions in our lives

Sorrow

Heartbreak

Failure

Sickness

Accidents

Calamities

Even use

Other people’s success and good fortune

He will use…

Anything to get us down – Job’s wife, etc.

Successful living that hinders a need or desire to know God

Rich young ruler clung to his wealth

Rich man put off God to build his fortune – T

Luke 12:13- 21 And one of the company said unto him, Master, speak to my brother, that he divide the inheritance with me. 14And he said unto him, Man, who made me a judge or a divider over you? 15And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.

So are you going to let him use these to derail you r service to the Lord? Are you going to squander your time and efforts for something that will diaper? Are you going to trust the one who lies to you or the one who gave His life for you eternal happiness? Are you going to let Satan hinder your life and service for the Lord. Are you going to welcome him and all he represents or will you shut him out of your life?
