Jn. 14:15-17; Rom. 8:10-17

Intro. - What would we do without the Holy Spirit? Would we suffer because of a needed part that we lack? The Holy Spirit is here to help, not hinder or hold us back. He is here to help us reach needed goals, live godly lives and walk in God's will.

John 14:15-27 If ye love me, keep my commandments.
¹⁶And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever;
¹⁷Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
¹⁸I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.
¹⁹Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.
²⁰At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.
²¹He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
²²Judas saith unto him, not Iscariot, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thyself unto us, and not unto the world?
²³Jesus answered and said unto him, If a man love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and make our abode with him.
²⁴He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father’s which sent me.
²⁵These things have I spoken unto you, being yet present with you.
²⁶But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
²⁷Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

Rom. 8:10-17 And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you. ¹²Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. ¹³For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. ¹⁴For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God. ¹⁵For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

¹⁷And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

He meets a need

Satisfies a hungry soul - Eccl. 1:8; 5:10

Eccl. 1:8 All things are full of labour; man cannot utter it: the eye is not satisfied with seeing, nor the ear filled with hearing.
Eccl. 5:10 He that loveth silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he that loveth abundance with increase: this is also vanity.

Touches an empty heart - Mt. 12:43-45

^{43When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

⁴⁴Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

⁴⁵Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Brings an evasive joy - Jn. 15:11; Acts 13:52;

John 15:11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
Acts 13:52 And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the Holy Ghost.

Guides our steps

He comforts us - Rom. 8:15; Jn 14:16-27

Rom. 8:15 - For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

He challenges us - Gal. 4:6

Galatians 4:6 ⁶And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

He corrects us - 1 Cor. 2:13

1 Cor. 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man’s wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

So in summary, we that are saved will have the Holy Spirit and all of His help.
We will be:
