Just What Would You Give To Save Your Friend?
Pr. 18:24; Pr. 27:10, 17; Eccl. 4:9-10

Intro.-Three weeks ago I used for a thought, Just What Would You Do To Save Your Soul? I dealt with the lost and salvation,. Our soul is very precious and we should be willing to do anything God asks for us to rescue it. Then, I used for a thought, Just What Would You Do To Save Your Church? Last week I used, Just What Would You Give To Save Your Child? Today I want to ask you, Just What Would You Give To Save Your Friend?

Friends are important. They are special. They help in hard times. They encourage in discouraging times. They lend a hand in needful times. Is it not nice to have friends we can count on?

Pro. 18:24 A man that hath friends must show himself friendly: and there is a friend that sticketh closer than a brother.

Pro. 27:10 Thine own friend, and thy father’s friend, forsake not; neither go into thy brother’s house in the day of thy calamity: for better is a neighbour that is near than a brother far off.

Pro. 27:17 Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

John 15:9 As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.
10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father’s commandments, and abide in his love.
11 These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.
13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
14 Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.
15 Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.
16 Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.
17 These things I command you, that ye love one another.

I want to deal with ways we can transform our friends' lives in Christ.

In our life they need to see…
Holy living that works

Without complaining
Without ulterior motives
Without hypocrisy

They need to see God lives in us

Ephesians 4: 24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. 25Wherefore putting away lying, speak every man truth with his neighbour: for we are members one of another.

1 Thes. 4: 7For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness

Titus 2: 3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; 4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, 5To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. 6Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. 7In all things showing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine showing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity, 8Sound speech, that cannot be condemned; that he that is of the contrary part may be ashamed, having no evil thing to say of you.

They also need from us…
Treasure chest of time that counts

Because you care about his/her life
Because you share you life with them
Because you know the Giver of Life

How great it is to be with someone that knows and shares the Giver of Life
They need to see they are really important to us.

And they need someone who is a…
Petitioner to the lord on his/her behalf (who else will?)

Continually calls to the Lord
Correctly (with caring) calls to the Lord
Cheerfully calls to the Lord - glad to be able to petition God for them

They need to see we feel they are important to God
So as a true friend we can see to affect their lives, we need to…

Live Godly in front of them
Share with them our time
Call to God for them

OR IN OTHER WORDS WE NEED TO BE A TRUE FRIEND!
