What About The Harvest?
Lu. 10:1-11

Luke 10 1After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come.
2Therefore said he unto them, The harvest truly is great, but the labourers are few: pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he would send forth labourers into his harvest.
3Go your ways: behold, I send you forth as lambs among wolves.
4Carry neither purse, nor scrip, nor shoes: and salute no man by the way.
5And into whatsoever house ye enter, first say, Peace be to this house.
6And if the son of peace be there, your peace shall rest upon it: if not, it shall turn to you again.
7And in the same house remain, eating and drinking such things as they give: for the labourer is worthy of his hire. Go not from house to house.
8And into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you, eat such things as are set before you:
9And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.
10But into whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you not, go your ways out into the streets of the same, and say,
11Even the very dust of your city, which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.

INTRO.:What a great harvest is available for us today. We complain there are not as many people to reach than in times past. Our county grew this past decade. We complain that the Holy Spirit does not work like He used to. He still saves!

We can reach people if we only try to labor for the master!

What About The Harvest?

When it comes to laboring, many are willing to…
Just watch others work
Often critical because they are not involved
Often able to do a better job then those working
Often have a reason for not wanting to work – been hurt, etc.

Others are willing to…
Do what they are asked to do
When they feel needed they are glad to help
Usually make excellent laborers

Others are willing to…
Do what they are instructed to do
Willing to help, just unsure of what to do
We need to train more workers
We need to plan on using them

Still others will…
Do their share
They do not like "hitching a ride"
May not get too excited, but will help pull their weight
When they see others do their part, they are ready to do theirs

We see those who…
See the need for labor
These have an insight and see the need for labor
They see things left undone and want to fix that

We see those who…
Never understand the need for labor
They are happy with the way they see things
They think things just fall in place
(like dishes washing self, snow melting, grass self-trimming,

Carpets self-cleaning, etc)

Still others will…
Try anything at least once
Not afraid of failure
Understand sometimes different approaches work
Know if it does not work, they can try something else

And of courses others who will…
Never try anything not already proven
Don’t want to waste their time
Don’t want to experiment
Don’t want to fail

And we find some that…
Will willingly step forward work and accomplish much
Some people seem blessed – their work just prospers
Some people seem like they do not even have to work hard

And then we also find some that…
Will willingly step forward work and may accomplish little
They toil and it creeps
They work hard for little gain
They never seem to get the recognition they deserve
They still keep on laboring for the Lord

We see those who…
Care more about what they do then the fruits of the harvest
They want recognition more than the harvest
They do not care about the fruits of the harvest
They will let the harvest suffer to labor their way
