Is There A Doctor In The House?
Lu.5:31,32; John 3:15-21

Luke 5: 31 And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

32 I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

John 3: 10 Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.
12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

INTRO.: For the last two weeks I have preached, "Is There A Revival In The House?" and "Is There A Warrior In The Camp?" Today, I want to compare Christ, the Great Physician to the doctors and their cures we have today. Just how important is our Lord as a Physician for us today. I will not mean for our bodies, but our souls. If we are to have a revival here, we need the Physician to come to our lives and allow Him to change us for the task He has for us. I ask you, "Is There A Doctor In The House?"

We need to know…
Jesus is the great physician, and as such He is…

Able to diagnose our sickness (sin)

Able to determine our remedy (prescribe repentance)

Able to deliver(heal) us from a terrible eternal destiny (with salvation)

If I was picking a Doctor, I would want one that could not only find my problem, but figure out what it takes to fix it, and then do what it takes for me to be well.

First I want us to see…
There is a great irony - Even with modern cures available, the cures, medicines and procedures there are still people who miss out. The way is made, yet the cure is ignored.

Spiritually we have the cure that will fix our depraved sinful souls - yet people still miss out!

There are…
People who feel they cannot afford the cost

Share $2,000 shot given

For some it is eat or medicine - Some feel they cannot afford salvation

They lack insurance - Christ is the only way we can have "insurance"

We all know…
People who just won't follow the doctor's orders Too stubborn to ask (I'll take care of it) The Hebrews only had to look at the brazen serpent for healing Forget or too busy

Ignore symptoms (of sickness/sin)

Don't like to take medicine, etc. (some people just do not like the things of God)

Mistrust (maybe had a bad experience in past with "doctors" or "nurses")

Only want to use a doctor when we are really sick! - Will we wait too long?

Rationalizes - "You got to die from something" (i.e. there is nothing anyone can do)

Then there are…
People who trust in other things Home remedy (trust in self)

Time ("A healer of all things" - yet time will not remove sin - only Christ will)

Almanacs & Old Wives tales and remedies (false teachings)

Mother's chicken soup (trust in heritage and/or religion)

Often…
People who face dangerous times Put off treatment - like cancer, etc. - dangerous (I'll get saved soon!)

Suffer with needless pain (tough it out) - lose blessings and better "health"

There is a great inadequacy on our part- we need better health (spiritual) in our lives

People need good basic "health" approaches

Approach the "doctor"

Stay away from the harmful stuff

Follow His orders

Take in nourishment

Be refreshed or renewed (in spirit)

The "Doctor" offers what we need for perfect "health" (spiritual) His response to sin - is Jesus

His remedy for sin - is Jesus

His rescue from sin - is Jesus

Do you need spiritual healing in your life today?

Do you have a sickness in your heart you cannot cure?

Do you trust the wrong thing for salvation?

Do you plan on accepting what the "Doctor" has available for your life?
