Gen. 39:3 And his master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did to prosper in his hand.
Psa 1:1 Blessed is the man that
walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners,
nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful.
2 But his delight is in the law of
the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.
3 And he shall be like a tree planted
by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his
leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper.
4 The ungodly are not so: but are
like the chaff which the wind driveth away.
5 Therefore the ungodly shall not
stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.
6 For the LORD knoweth the way of
the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.
Intro.: People want success! Usually that means the accumulation of wealth. Is this what success is to God? Is this what we need in our lives just more money? Will this make us happier? Will this cause us to be really successful?
We need to…
Solicit a special intimacy with
God
Recognize His Son that died for you (does that cause you to pause?)
Recognize His desire to be close to you (do you have a desire?)
Deut. 29: 9 Keep therefore the words of this covenant, and do them, that ye may prosper in all that ye do.
Study God's Word
Learn God's Word
2 Chr. 26: 5 And he sought God in the days of Zechariah, who had understanding in the visions of God: and as long as he sought the LORD, God made him to prosper.
Prayerfully ask God for special understanding
Seriously seek the insight He can give you (it is important)
1 Chr. 22: 13 Then shalt thou prosper, if thou takest heed to fulfil the statutes and judgments which the LORD charged Moses with concerning Israel: be strong, and of good courage; dread not, nor be dismayed.
Deut. 4: 40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the LORD thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Demand of yourself uprightness (forget what others are getting away with)
Deny any tendency to turn away (resist the lies
of Satan)
2 Chr. 31: 21 And in every work that he began in the service of the house of God, and in the law, and in the commandments, to seek his God, he did it with all his heart, and prospered.
Carefully scrutinize your motives (for attitude)
Take care of problems immediately (prevents cancerous growth of sin in our lives)
