Tabitha, A Mother That Trusted What The Lord Can Do
Acts 9:36-43

INTRO: What do we remember about our mothers? Mothers, what are you doing for your children? Yes I know you all do and have done much, but there is more to do than clothe, cook and care for your children! Tabitha was an unselfish mother that made it to the scripture's "Hall of Fame for Mothers." Are you the mother Tabitha was? Are you the mother God desires you to be?

I. Tabitha was a great example for mothers - (vs. 36)

IF we have more "Tabithas," we can see…

II. Tabitha became ill… - (vs. 37)

This shows us that…

(Had she spent her money for others and not received medical care?????)

ILL. - Share Bro. Paul Thompson's story of his mother and apples

III. Tabitha affected others' lives - (vs. 39)

We get a glimpse of…

      1. A Nurturer
      2. A Protector
      3. A Provider
      4. An Adviser

IV. God Sent her help in the form of the Apostle Peter - (38-40)

(DADS! This is an example of how we can help others)

As we look at Simon Peter, we see he did four things… vs. 40a

I can think of three things he needed to place behind himself…
      1. Personal feelings versus God's will
      2. Plentiful possessions of this world versus heavenly goods
      3. Practical solutions versus faith in God's decisions
HOW CAN WE REACH GOD IF WE ARE DISTRACTED WITH THE WORLD? V. What was her response? (Vs. 40 b - 42)

As we look at this compare your response to God's call and help to you!
