Love is Great, Because God is Good
Song 8:7; 1 Cor. 13
The word "love" is one of the most misunderstood words on our language.
Often it is used for "lust," or easily replaces, "really like" or "enjoy."
Love! "I love you!" A great sound to hear, easy to say, but do we really
mean it? Do we really know what we mean when we use that word?
First for some foundation:
-
Love is more than a feeling
-
Feelings change – Love is constant
-
Feelings fade – Love grows
-
Feelings are emotional – Love is a choice! (Song – "I Will
Choose Christ")
We see that…
-
Love has an unquenchable thirst
-
More than superficial appearances
-
More than self-serving actions
-
More than personal possession
-
Only love (and expressing love) can satisfy this thirst (we
have a need to love God)
Also…
-
Love develops an unflappable trust
-
Longsuffering (4)
-
Behaves right (7)
-
Out lasts (8)
And…
-
Love is an "unbuyable" treasure
-
Priceless
-
Great investment
-
Great value
-
Great divestiture (giving up or away)
-
Great Plan by a
Great God who shared a
Great Love by giving His
Great Sacrifice in the form of
His Only Begotten Son – Jesus
