Miracles? - Can't Do!
Series: "A Look At How Miracles Affect Our Lives"
Acts 15:1-12

INTRO: Our last three Sunday morning messages have dealt with the series, "A Look At How Miracles Affect Our Lives." I looked at David and Goliath, and how God works through a willing servant. The last message two weeks ago, I looked at Elijah at the brook, a man that miracles worked through. Why? Because he gave his life to the Lord, God granted many miracles to affect his and others lives around him . Last week I spent some time with some of the miracles of Christ. We saw that His miracles Announced His Greatness, Acknowledged His Deity, and Advanced The Cause Of Christ To The Needy. Today I want to deal with what miracles will not accomplish in our lives. With all the hype, we must recognize that miracles are not a cure-all for our lives.

  1. They are not always what we would call positive for OUR lives.
    1. Pharoah vs. God and Moses
    2. Elymas or Bar-jesus the sorcerer - Acts 13
    3. Ananias and Sapphira Acts - 5

  2. Do not necessarily change our lives
    1. Simon wanted the power of but not the indwelling - Acts 8
    2. Judas Iscariot
    3. People of Thyratira - when Paul removed the evil spirit from the damsel -- had Paul and Silas thrown into jail.

  3. Does not make us mature nor automatically remove our carnality
    1. John Mark still went home Acts 13
    2. Peter had just resurrected Dorcas, yet God's plan was not sure in his mind - Acts 9,10
    3. Peter still cut off the servants ear and denied Christ

  4. Often are credited to man and not God
    1. Barnabus and Paul thought to be gods when Paul healed the crippled man - Acts 14
    2. Paul was thought to be a god when the viper's bite did not harm him.

  5. Do not always come to our rescue
    1. Stephen - stoned in Acts 6
    2. James was killed - Peter released Acts 12

Miracles are important, but should not be the focus of our lives - Jesus should be the star that shines bright for us, not the glitter of miracles.
