Defeating our Jerichos
Joshua 6
INTRO: Our biggest problem or weakness can be compared
to Jericho. What a thorn in the side of the Israelites. What a discouraging
site it must have been. Jericho was very formidable indeed. Its two walls
were 32 feet high, .with a space of 12-27 feet between them. The outer
one was not very thick, but the inner one was between 11-12 feet thick.
Very much an impossibility to destroy.
-
It was shut up to avoid the Israelite
army. -vs 1
-
We need to recognize and "attack" our
problem areas in our life.
-
They often seem immovable
-
God promised it to Joshua vs 2
-
We need to trust God
-
We need to be willing to listen to God
-
God had a plan vs 3-5
-
We need to listen to God
-
We need to defer to God and His plan (Word).
- No doubt there were those who advised against this. TRUST GOD NOT MAN!
-
God expects us to follow His plan
-
Faith is the item that will set us apart.
-
Detail is important
-
Readiness is needed
-
Determination will pay-off (kept at it
every day)
The walls fell, but the ARMED men
won the victory
-
Our problems can be defeated
-
God does not want "Jerichos" in our lives
-
He will help us find and destroy them
-
He has a plan
-
He has helpers that can sound the trumpet.
-
He has ARMED warriors that can help you
in your time of need.
-
He has you he wants to rescue!
