Looking at and Learning from THE EXAMPLE
Prov. 17:6; Matt. 6:9-13

Prov. 17:6 - Children's children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.

INTRO: What can we as men, even old men look forward to in life? I believe Prov. 17:6 gives us a glimpse o f the great blessing that awaits those Fathers that will stand and be counted, use God the Fathers as an example for being the beacon to our children.

Several Characteristics of God that are to be desired and copied by us

He is to be Honored and Hallowed above all others – vs. 9
His ways should be Preferred above all others vs.-10
He is an ample Provider vs. 11
He is the Perfect Overseer vs. 12
He Guides us the right direction as our Pathfinder vs. 13a
God our Father is Most Worthy vs. 13b

Several mistakes fathers make in this life with their families

Think they have to do everything for their families (depend on God)
Think they have to make all the decisions in life
Think they have to provide a high standard of living
Think that if they work really hard all the other things will be okay
Think that all their children need is mother’s care
Think that they must always be tough and masculine

Forget that God is their first responsibility
