The Chance of His Lifetime

INTRO: Hannah, Rachael, Rebekah, Sarah, Esther are all names that we easily recognize from our knowledge of the Bible. The name Jochebed however is not as well known. Who was she? She was a brave mother that gave her condemned son the chance of his lifetime. Moses mother done so much more that save his life. She gave him what he needed in life to be the one we all know as MOSES.

  1. A Glimpse of the Beginning of Moses

    1. A Ghetto in Goshen
      1. This is the area that the Egyptians afforded the Hebrews to live.
      2. It was not the best of conditions, but…they had there culture and their God

       
    2. Affliction and Oppression – vs. 8-14
      1. A new pharoah rose up, caring not what Joseph had done for them
      2. He caused them to suffer greatly
      3. Yet they thrived - 12-14
      4. And they called out for God to rescue them

       
    3. Midwives and Murder
      1. The Egyptians would curb the increasing Hebrews
      2. The Midwives of the Hebrews were to kill the baby boys
      3. They feared God and spared them
      4. The plan was then to throw them to the river (crocs)
      But in all the chaos, we find that small glimmer within…
    4. A Home of Hope

  1. A Glimpse of the Opportunity You Have Today

    1. It is possible to overestimate the impact of environment

      While we struggle to give our sons and daughters the finer things of live we place importance on the wrong items that they need.
       

    2. It is possible to underestimate the importance of parenting

      3.  

       

      We depend on all kinds of things to take care of our children,

      Babysitters, television, other kids (playmates), churches, daycare, etc. When what they so desperately need is YOU!
       

    3. Regardless of the odds , a faithful model is valuable

      4.  

       

      If we will just have the simple faith like Jochebed did we can make the difference
       

    4. Because of life’s pressures, an available mother is essential
What if Jochebed had NOT been available and open to God?   Jochebed was there to nurture her child. She made a difference in his life that has endured for all ages. Let us make the difference and nurture our sons and daughters that they may endure for eternity.
