A Look At Men That God Can Use
Paul And Peter Leap into the Lime Light
1 Tim. 6:11-21

INTRO: Who were Peter and Paul????? What made them special? How were they able to do the things that they did? Who was the greatest? Who was the leader? Who did this, who did that? Let us look briefly at these two men and their lives.

First, let us look at…

  1. Their differences were diverse
    1. Paul was educated at the feet of Gamaliel,– Peter was just a common fisherman

    2.
    3. Paul was radically religious (a Pharisee) – Peter had received "good " instruction

    4.
    5. Paul was an Apostle born out of season – Peter was one of the Twelve

    6.
    7. Paul lost all he held dear – Peter gave all he held dear (Acts 41-47)

    8.
    9. Paul was a persuasive speaker – Peter was a passionate speaker

    10.
    11. Paul was a poor physical specimen – Peter was thought to be a big man

Not only can we see their great differences, but …

  1. Their duty to Christ was paralleled

  2.
    1. Persecuted, threatened, imprisoned, slain, etc

    2.
    3. Proclaimers of the Gospel

    4.
    5. Great soulwinners and miracle workers

    6.

Peter: 3K at Pentecost, lame man at the gate Beautiful, 5K men (Acts 4), Ananias & Saphira, Multitudes (even wanting his shadow to touch them), man of palsy at Lydia, Dorcas (raised from the dead), etc.

Paul: Deputy at Paphos, believers at Antioch, Iconium, Pamphylia, Perga, THREE MISSIONARY JOURNEYS IN ALL! Phillipian jailer,

    7. Rescued (protected) by God

    8.
    9. Respected by fellow Christians

    10.
    11. Ministry blessed of God

    12.
Which brings me to the next point….

  3. Their outreach was successful and their influence great

  4.
    1. God used them in the areas He had planned for them

    2.
    3. They were part of the explosion of Christianity throughout the world

    4.
    5. They ran the race until the end.!

God has a use for each and everyone of us in some way and will use us greatl;y if we only allow Him to. No matter how different we are , how educated we are, how rich or poor we are, how old we are, God has and will use the ability within us IF WE ALLOW HIM TO!!!!!!

My message will be continued tonight by looking at What made them usable for Him. I intend to deal with the specific things that Peter and Paul did in their lives to be usable by God.
