Oh Those Cursed Rocks
Ps. 104:18 The high hills are a refuge for the wild
goats; and the rocks for the conies.
Pro. 30: 26 The conies are but a feeble folk, yet
make they their houses in the rocks;
Job 28: 10 He cutteth out rivers among the rocks;
and his eye seeth every precious thing.
11 He bindeth the floods from overflowing; and the
thing that is hid bringeth he forth to light.
12 But where shall wisdom be found? and where is
the place of understanding?
INTRO: When we look at rocks (the very
ones that Steve has been talking about this week), we see several things.
First we realize that rocks are often used for good things…
-
Markers or boundaries
-
Protection,
-
Support,
-
Strength,
-
and even for Appearances sake.
Second it is the ones that we struggle
with that we also see (usually don’t see at the surface)
-
Rocks of importance:
-
Rejoicing in His blessings
– are we happy in the Lord?
-
Reaffirmation of our
love for Him
-
Righteousness as a sign
to all – are we glad to live for God?
-
Respect for
God’s Work – How important is God’s work to you?
-
Responsiveness
(or Resonance) to His Holy call – are you willing to obey????
-
Reassurance
of His love for us(from His Spirit and Word)
-
Rocks of impairment
-
Rigidity against the
will of God in our live
-
Refusal to
obey and serve Him
Too busy
Too selfish
Too stubborn
-
Restricting our service
to Him in a jealous way -- Unwilling to really let Him lead
-
Resistance
to His Holy Spirit – extremely dangerous!!!
-
Resentfulness
(jealousy)of those that try to serve the Lord
-
Removal (immorality)of
the old pathways on our lives
