Through the Eyes of Jesus
I Say Concerned, He Says Just Worried
1 Matt. 6:19-34

Continuing with the theme of "Through the Eyes of Jesus," I want to look back at what we have looked at. We have looked at the Dangers of Religion, the Futility of Works, and last week at the Needs of All the Lost, and today I want to deal with the Weakening through Worry!

How many of us are often consumed by worry that causes us to churn, toil inside, hurt, become actually sick? Do we really accomplish anything by this?? Can we change our stature, our appearance, or even the situations that we worry about??? NO!!!!! Let's look at worry through the eyes of Jesus.

 I. The CAUSE of unnecessary worry:

  A. Unwilling to accept His control in our life (Self Dependence)

    1. Example - Jonah worried how the people of Ninevah would hear.

    2. Moses worried about his ability to talk, etc.

  B. Unbelief in His Power

    1. The disciples in the ship - Matt. 8:25

    2. The disciples - the hungry multitude (ready to send them away)

Matt. 14:15

  C. Unsure of our standing with the Master

II. The COST of unproductive worry:

  A. Lack of growth in our Christian lives - Matt. 13:22

  B. Lack of Glory for God

  C. Loss of respect

    1. In others eyes for our God

    2. In others eyes for us

    3. For ourselves - Peter sank when he began to worry

    4. For God and His Son

III. The CURE for unwanted worry

  A. Desire to overcome worry in our lives

  B. Deliver to Him your concerns - Phil. 4:6

  C. Depend on His mercies - 1 Pet. 5:7
