We hear so much about power from many televangelists today. What is this power that they are promoting. Did the early disciples have this thing? Of course they did! All we have to do is look into the book of Acts for numerous examples. Peter, John, Phillip, James, Paul, Silas, Barnabus, etc. POWER is there, it awaits us, then let us seek it with vigor!!!!!
I. WHAT POWER IS NOT !!
A. Recognition by man or people.B. Role playing or emotionalism displayed prominently before people.
C. Replacement or a shortcut to holiness - we must strive to live HOLY.
II. WHAT POWER IS! - (GODLY POWER)
A. Ability to be connected to the power source (GOD).B. Ability to help change peoples lives.
C. Ability to communicate Christ.
III. WHAT POWER CAN DO!1. Crucified2. Risen
3. Coming again!
A. Amaze us completely.B. Announce Christ to the world. (Peter & John - 3: )
C. Activate others to serve Him.
D. Arouse the whole community either for or against.
IV. HOW CAN WE HAVE POWER?
A. Stay spiritually awakeGary Marcum - East 38th Street Free Will Baptist - 041496B. Seek Him through our prayer and devotional life.
C. Serve Him.
1. Obediently2. Fervently - we get excited about sports, jobs, money, etc.
3. Continually daily serving, worshiping Him.
4. Wholly - Why do we think it is okay to kinda serve Him part of the time, instead of wholly serving Him and gaining the POWER that He has for us ?
